Poneh Rahimi, MD

Gastroenterology fellowship trained and a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Poneh Rahimi received her Bachelor’s of Science degree with a major in biology from the University of California, Irvine. She earned her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean, which included one year of training in the United Kingdom at Epsom General Hospital. Dr. Poneh Rahimi completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine in Pennsylvania. She pursued a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Long Island College Hospital which is associated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York. Dr. Rahimi has been involved in many research projects during her residency and fellowship leading to multiple presentations in national scientific conferences with numerous publications.

After completing her Postgraduate training, Dr. Poneh Rahimi returned to her hometown in southern Orange County, where she has been serving her community since 2006. Affiliated with Mission Regional Medical Center and Saddleback Memorial Hospital, she is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the Southern California Society of Gastroenterology. Speaking at national conferences, Dr. Rahimi promotes awareness for the importance of colon cancer screening. At the Medical Center of Gastroencology and Hepetology, she cares for a wide range of digestive system disorders including celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, heartburn and swallowing difficulties, to name a few. General gastroenterology is Dr. Rahimi’s main interest with a focus on the prevention of digestive system cancers and weight loss in patients with a gastrointestinal disease.
